What is SearchGPT and how does it work?

For a few days now, we have been able to access SearchGPT, the artificial intelligence search engine from ChatGPT , for free in Spain . If you are wondering how it works , the answer couldn't be simpler: click on the globe icon and ask your question.

In the lower left corner, we see that it provides us with a “Sources” link , which, if we click on it, will display a column on the right side with a list of links from which it has collected the information for those results.

This functionality is not unique to ChatGPT, as other AI tools also provide online search results. In the case of Copilot , for example, it sometimes provides links to determine the sources of the information and other times it does not, in a somewhat random manner.

The logic is not very different from that of some of the more traditional search engines, which is why some people believe that SEO efforts to position themselves on Google also allow them to appear in the results of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence tools. We are still at a very early stage to know if this will be the case, but it is a trend that will necessarily condition SEO strategies in 2025 (and beyond).
