Is Keyword Density still used?
It is true that this is a fairly old practice. Considering that search engines used to work quite basic years ago, simply “spamming” a word in content and meta tags was enough to achieve good positioning.

However, today, quality content has gained much more importance due to the evolution of Google's algorithms. But if we review the SEO content of many of the projects with the most traffic in the different areas, we will see that many of them continue to carry out this type of practice, but with much more natural density volumes, since today, using keywords in the jewelers email database same way as years ago would not make sense and, not only that, it could also lead to poor results in the rankings, causing the opposite effect to the desired one.

At first glance, quality content and keyword density seem like contradictory terms, since quality content must be directed at users and provide value, not trying to systematically repeat a word. However, when content revolves around a topic, it is normal for that word to be repeated several times throughout the text, so keyword density is not necessarily something that should be negative. It is rather a balance that must be carried out between the SEO optimization of content to obtain good results without harming the quality and value that the content should provide to users.

Theory and practice with Google guidelines
From time to time, Google speaks out regarding the SEO community's concerns, but sometimes these guidelines are contradictory to what we see on the results pages. For example, there has been controversy regarding the issue of "Exact Domain Match", that is, those domains that are literally a keyword with volume. Google indicates that they do not help to position terms, but then when performing certain searches we find these types of domains in the first positions.

Something similar happens with Keyword Density. As we have mentioned before, we can find keyword-optimized content in, for example, the main e-commerce sites in various sectors. Although, obviously, this is not the only optimization they carry out and it is difficult to know if it is part of the success in positioning they are having. What is clear is that many SEOs continue to rely on this practice.

Conclusions on Keyword Density
Regardless of whether or not you decide to implement a specific keyword density percentage, it is important that the content revolves around the topic you want to rank for and, above all, must provide value and not lengthen the content with the sole objective of adding more words and being able to rank better.

If you want to use keyword density, never exceed 1.5%, otherwise you would be harming the user experience by repeating a meaningless word.
