Meeting time is spent inefficiently

Post by Maksudasm »

The effectiveness of a meeting is not measured only by speed. Sometimes a short communication session is enough, and sometimes negotiations drag on. To correctly assess the effectiveness of a meeting, before it is held, it is necessary to determine the parameters of the assessment: outline the goal, product, specific metrics. Without all this, the contact ceases to be teamwork. And, by the way, the rules should also be discussed in advance.

The format of the meeting was chosen poorly

Business communications use car owner database completely different meeting formats: ad hoc, brainstorming, tactical or strategic contact, etc. The emergence of a new option – online meetings – allows you to select communication formats more accurately and consciously. It is easier to correspond with someone, with others face-to-face negotiations are necessary, and for someone a short call on Zoom or Skype is enough.

No meetings when they are needed

One of the most pressing problems in business communications is the inability to get the decision maker (DM) to contact: either this person is busy all day, or has gone to lunch, or there are some technical difficulties, etc. All of these are meeting blockers. For example, you cannot discuss the developed marketing strategy with the CMO (Chief Marketing Officer).

Therefore, the speed of solving some issues depends on how often there is an opportunity to communicate with the eternally busy decision maker. If, for example, meetings with him are available only once a month, then the problem will advance with this step. The absence of negotiations or their breakdown, the unavailability of the right person remain very painful issues in business.

The meeting is not moderated or facilitated in any way.

Not all organizations realize the need to prepare and conduct meetings, relying on chance - we'll meet sometime, talk, whatever happens, that's what happens. This is the wrong approach. The facilitator (moderator) is the same specialist in his field (communications), like, for example, a car mechanic, electrician, etc. And you need to invite a professional so that the meetings are effective.
