Russian internet group acquires 2% of Facebook

As MarketingDirecto.com reported yesterday , the Russian internet operator Digital Sky Technologies (DST) has entered Facebook. The social media platform has officially announced today the entry of the Russian investor, who has acquired preferred shares worth 200 million dollars.

With this stake, DST becomes the owner of 2% of Facebook. The stake 99 acres data would have a total value of 10 billion dollars, according to the platform's valuation. DST plans to continue acquiring part of Facebook by investing in common shares worth 100 million dollars, which it would buy from current shareholders.

"This investment demonstrates Facebook's continued success," said Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of the platform, in the official press release . Facebook already has more than 200 million users, and around 70% of them live outside the United States.

Microsoft invested $240 million in Facebook in October, giving the software giant a mere 1.6 percent stake in preferred stock. Facebook has received investments worth around $500 million in recent years. The platform expects to achieve revenues of between $400 million and $550 million this year.
