Farmers of Tambov region harvested more than 4 million tons of grain

Preliminary results of the harvesting campaign were discussed at a weekly operational meeting with the Head of the Tambov Region Maxim Egorov. As noted by the Minister of Agriculture of the region Alena Sytova, 93% of the grain and leguminous crops have been harvested from fields with a total area of ​​over one million hectares. In total, farmers have harvested more than 4.8 million tons of grain. This is 600 thousand tons more than the 2022 level.

As noted by the regional government, this year's good results are due to the high yield of grain crops - 48 centners per hectare (2022 - about 42 centners per hectare). Farmers managed to achieve such a yield due to effective cryptocurrency database agricultural policy, the use of modern scientific technologies, as well as state support for the industry.

Active work on harvesting sugar beets is also continuing. Almost 90% of the harvest has already been removed from the region's fields, in physical weight this is more than 5 million tons. The yield is higher than last year by 86 centners per hectare - 527 centners per hectare.

The harvesting of late crops – sunflowers and soybeans – continues.

"The pace of harvesting work directly depends on weather conditions. During periods of heavy precipitation, work slows down or is suspended. If dry weather sets in, Tambov farmers will be able to harvest the entire crop of sugar beets, soybeans, and sunflowers in a short period. After that, farmers will direct all equipment and efforts to harvesting corn," explained Alena Sytova, Minister of Agriculture of the Tambov Region.
