Look for opportunities to use big data

In the early 2000s, I received a secondary specialized medical education, my specialty is a paramedic. I worked for two and a half years as an anesthesiologist's assistant in the intensive care and anesthesiology department of one of the city clinical hospitals in Moscow. But I did not continue to grow in medicine for two reasons - financial and the birth of my son in 2004. Then I especially clearly understood that I needed to change something in my life.

Interest in IT: where it all began
When I worked at the hospital, the head of the department asked me to make a table that would contain information on all patients - their age, gender, number of operations and what manipulations were done. And then there was one computer for the entire department and paper medical records. It was in this form that interest in collecting and analyzing data began, the first small datasets began to appear. Although I did not know such words yet.
I decided to go into sales, like many at that time. I do not know almost anyone who among my acquaintances would not go into this field at that time.
Soon, as soon as I moved to a new field czech republic mobile phone data for myself, I entered the full-time and part-time department of the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics in the direction of "Organization Management". At that time, I was working in the sales department of one of the large metallurgical enterprises. It was convenient to write a thesis without leaving the work processes.
Sales Manager
Improve your communication skills
I gained experience in several large companies, working as a sales manager. I mainly traded metal - worked with AvtoVAZ, Kamaz. I worked in sales in ferrous metallurgy for 15 years. I really wanted to gain experience in a foreign company, I even started studying the language. After a while, I got a job at Hilti (a manufacturer of equipment for professional construction).

This is a large Western European company that left the Russian market in 2022. I decided to take advantage of this moment.

"You have to perceive any obstacle as a challenge. So, it has to be that way, you can't give up, you have to do something. I've always been interested in data analysis and decided to try this direction."

Hard Skills Training
in Data Analytics
I have always been interested in observing some events and phenomena. I started looking for where I could get basic knowledge in data analysis. I completed online training at one of the universities as part of the federal project "Employment Assistance".
About job search
I didn't expect to find a job after my studies. I started monitoring the market - and there was such experience, such knowledge needed. I didn't have anything like that yet. Then I decided to rewrite my resume a little, leaving what I could do and adding new skills. I started looking for a job and just threw in my resume. The search took about a month, and Mosoblgaz responded to my resume. I started working for them on January 9, 2023, as an engineer-analyst.

Work as an analyst
Continue development
When I started working, I realized that the knowledge I had was extremely insufficient. Moreover, I quickly realized that if I wanted to develop in the profession, I needed to learn how to do everything. And so it went. I started making reports, then delving into SQL, and eventually found out that the organization had Airflow. But only after six months of work did I write my first function using a loop in Python. Later, I completed a program on artificial intelligence. The desire to automate and simplify my own work largely motivates me to sign up for new training.
"As I changed jobs and underwent training, of course, my salary increased significantly. It is important for me that I did not measure the transition to IT only by salary. I chose a profession that I like, it is important for me that I like it. If you like the job, the money will come."

During this time, I managed to take part in one hackathon, our team was tasked with developing a recommendation system for "Moscow Longevity". A pensioner enters his data and receives suitable activity options based on a historical dataset.
Having already completed two trainings, I realized that I was missing this too. I started looking for a new course, it is important that it has more practical skills. And I went to "Software Engineering. Software Development" from Innopolis University. I was very pleased with the training. With its help, I gained knowledge of Docker, learned how to work with applications, deploy them. Now I regularly apply in my work the skills of application deployment and continuous integration, which I received on the Innopolis University course.
Special thanks to the course teacher, Azat Yakubov, and mentor, Sergey Averin, they explain very clearly, answer all questions, help to understand complex topics.

After just two months of training, I was convinced that something needed to change. And I changed my job — now I am a data engineer at the Central Research Institute for Health Organization and Informatization of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
