The mass adoption of devices such as smartphones and tablets, together with the proliferation of new social media channels, has generated some concern in the television sector.

Despite the migration from traditional media to new streaming platforms, there is still a large mass of viewers who watch linear television, although now they no longer do so alone, but accompanied by a second screen.
of viewers use a digital device whileaustria phone number watching television, 71% of viewers search for information related to television content on their mobile while watching it, and 41% contact someone to comment on the content.

This, far from being a threat, is an opportunity if you know how to take advantage of it, since it allows the life of programs, series and films to be extended beyond television.

Examples of this can be found in brands such as Oreo, which benefited from the buzz generated on social media by the premiere of the latest season of “Game of Thrones” by launching a limited edition of its cookies inspired by the famous series. Over the two months prior to the broadcast, the brand received 155,000 mentions linking it to the HBO series.

Coca-Cola has also been able to take advantage of “Stranger Things” thanks to which it received 55,800 mentions.

But it's not just content that's benefiting from this trend, advertising too. 59% of American users say they're more receptive to ads while watching TV. The second screen also increases the viewer's chances of following along by 75%.
