Microsoft has announced that its video conferencing, chat and task management platform Microsoft Teams has hit a new usage record, with the service now boasting 250 million monthly active users.
The service has grown considerably since the iceland mobile database of the COVID-19 pandemic and has become one of the favorite alternatives for groups for online classes and meetings, alongside competitors such as Google Meet and Zoom.
For comparison purposes, the numbers for April 2021 were 145 million users — which is already high, but reinforces the platform's surge in recent months.
Good expectations
At the press conference to release the quarterly financial report, which was extremely positive for the brand, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella commented on the success of the service. “Teams is the new frontline. It’s where people meet, chat, call, collaborate and automate business processes, all within a workflow. Teams usage has never been higher,” celebrated the executive.
It is also worth remembering that these numbers are expected to increase in the coming months, even though in-person work regimes are gradually returning in several parts of the world. This is because Teams will be one of the new services integrated by default in Windows 11, replacing the use of Skype.
