And how much money have you earned with Twitter?

I hope that the meaning of the title will be understood after reading this post, or put into context.

The frenetic growth of social media affects us all, for better or worse. Today I will talk about Twitter. Many of us like it. Especially those of us who are “in the sector” (understood as marketing and online communication, web development, e-business…those worlds of the Internet). We read many tweets: things we like, curiosities, people follow us and we follow them…and we enter into an endless circle of tweets and retweets…so that we hardly notice how the minutes go by.

The following contribute to the above:

1) That reading 140-character bc data indonesia tweets is quick and easy
2) That retweeting something is very easy (one click!)
3) That copy/pasting something interesting that we have read and tweeting it is also very easy (2 clicks)

That doesn't make Twitter any less interesting. But it does raise a few questions for me:

1) How many of my tweets are my own and add value? By my own I mean my own personal or professional reflections or experiences. And, on the other hand, how many of my tweets come from third parties?

The answer to this point affects - I understand - our creativity and our brain, which we enhance (or not) with its use.

It is not bad to share other people's content, on the contrary. We all share the good, it is natural. But when we never "create" or contribute value ourselves, as people and professionals, I understand, we impoverish ourselves.

2) From a business perspective, given how many hours I spend on Twitter, how much has Twitter helped me sell? How many new customers have I made?

I am not referring here to other collateral (and interesting) benefits such as our professional positioning in the market, or the continuous training and retraining in matters of our sector or the wonderful consequences of interacting with others (human relations!). I am referring to sales, clients. Because I understand that a professional who is “hooked” on Twitter , with the damage that the constant interruption of his work can cause, surely keeps track of what it brings him financially, even if they are indirect benefits (assuming that he does not live on air) 😉

Objectives, results, depth of knowledge, creative ability... I have been thinking about all these things lately, they are points I am trying to improve. I liked what I recently read on Yorokobu : Beware of the Internet! It can make you an idiot! , with very interesting contributions from Nicholas Carr .

And in the end we are back to the same old story. Is Twitter any good? I think so, very good. But, like everything, it can be used or abused . Everyone will know what their case is.
