Google's annual report is now available, showing what was searched for the most in 2010 , on Google, of course. As a first impression, I have to admit that it has left me quite amazed. There is a lot of useful information, which can give you an idea about search trends... Precisely that has left me amazed, finding Justin Bieber , Katy Perry or Chatroulette as terms that are in the top 10 of searches with the greatest growth. Ouch!

Zeitgeist 2010 (Google)

Digging a little deeper into the Report, we see the "big bc data brazil topics" of the year, which were searched for: the World Cup in South Africa , the Winter Olympics in Canada , the earthquake in Haiti , the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico and the ash cloud from the volcano (whose name I don't think I'll remember) in Iceland.

Most of this data, moreover, corresponds to the main trends on Twitter in 2010. If we add to all this that Facebook, with its 500 million users, surpassed Google in usage time… will we have a “joint” Report in 2011?

Some conclusions, off the top of my head :

– We really like sports. A lot.

– We feel sensitized by events/misfortunes of others. Positive point is the growth of aid via the Internet (donations).

– We were concerned (or not) that BP was, for a time, the company in the spotlight in terms of Reputation.

– We are amazed that a volcano could leave a continent without flights…

– It makes us “older” that a kid born in 1994 is in the top 10 fastest growing searches.
