Choose your tools
Now that you have more precisely defined what you need to know, it is time to define the script for your questionnaire or interview.

You can choose between online, telephone or in-person surveys, personal interviews or focus groups.

The most commonly used tool is the online interview.

However, if your budget allows it, you should not rule out focus groups or personal interviews, as they will provide you with very useful information.

The focus group will allow you to delve deeper into certain aspects and find out what needs your product leaves unmet.

Whenever possible, use more than one technique.

For example, conduct offline personal interviews with buyers of your competitor's product (do at least 5), online surveys targeting audiences interested in similar products, and mystery shopping whenever applicable.

If you can afford it, add a focus group by selecting the most appropriate participants from among your first- and second-degree contacts.

Write a script
