An online pharmacy editorial site was hit by the August 2018 Medic Update , losing about 50% of organic traffic. In addition to having small reputational issues, it had some issues with its tree structure and content.
The Technical Audit carried out with SEMrush tools allowed us to identify most of the technical issues that were resolved in the following weeks. Among these were, for example:
optimizing the site tree structure , reducing navigation paths and showing features of our advertising database more articles per single page;
update many of the existing articles, enriching with text some that had little content;
reduce site duplication levels by eliminating a number of non-useful archive pages, as well as a satellite domain that was duplicating the entire site content;
SEMrush tools also reported a number of duplicates in Title tags and 404 pages, which were successfully resolved. From a reputation point of view, a Quality Review was also carried out as the site, which falls into the "YMYL" (Your Money or Your Life) category, i.e. sites capable of influencing the user's purchasing power and/or health or financial choices, required a careful analysis of the way in which the staff presented itself to readers, also examining external mentions and the quality of the reviews .
Some aspects that undermined the brand's reputation on the web have been corrected.
With the Core Update on March 12, the site recovered all the lost traffic.
