How to foster an inclusive culture with the LGBTQ+ community
Across the thousands of clients Adecco Group works with globally, we are helping our partners align their ambitions with clear, practical plans to hire more inclusively and retain the diverse talent they hire. Here are 10 ways to get started:
Do your research . Start with the United Nations rcs data israel Rights Office ’s Standards of Conduct . Reflecting input from hundreds of companies across diverse sectors, they offer guidance on how to respect and support the rights of LGBTQ+ people in the workplace, marketplace and community.
Develop an effective, global corporate diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIP) policy . Your policy should articulate your commitment to and clearly reference sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics/intersex status of your workforce. It should also explain your responsibilities as a company and the responsibilities of employees and outline what will happen if that policy is violated. Multinational companies should also have a cohesive global implementation strategy, keeping in mind that the concepts of equal rights and fair treatment of LGBTQ+ people are not well institutionalized in many markets or regions.
Ensure employee and management buy-in, including commitments to drive the DEIP strategy forward . Build employees’ soft skills in empathy by exposing them to other viewpoints and perspectives. Regulate and train them in DEIP, ensure they are familiar with your policy and consider incentivising leaders for their involvement and commitments in performance frameworks.
