Content projects and emojis

In this case, we can talk about real creativity. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) launched the #EndangeredEmoji project, the essence of which was that anyone can use an emoji of an animal that is one of 17 endangered species. To do this, go to the site endangeredemoji.com, click on the RetweettoStart link and subscribe to the Twitter channel.

At the end of the month, everyone who used the selected emoji receives a bill, which requires paying about $0.1 for each publication (at the user's discretion). Thus, WWF raises funds by drawing the attention of caring people to the problems of wildlife. For example, the main tweet of the project was retweeted more than 35 thousand times.

Find out how
An equally creative project that used emojis was #EmojiScience by General Electric. Its goal was to tell about chemical, physical phenomena, and scientific theories in simple language in the format of educational experiments.

A stylized periodic table was created, in which all the questions are sorted, and each element is assigned its own emoji. Some topics are covered on Facebook, others on the YouTube channel, and still others on the GE blog.

The main thing to remember is that when using emojis, you need to know when to stop. In addition to the good examples listed above, there are some that are not so successful. These include a news item called #ChevyGoesEmoji, which Chevrolet published in 2015. It encrypted the description of the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze model using only emojis.

In this way, the authors wanted to entertain users, but, as it turned out, there was no benefit from such a puzzle. Here, the Chevrolet company clearly overdid it with the use of emoji, as a result of which readers received a lot of mockery. However, no one knows - perhaps this is what the authors of the news wanted.

Meta tags with emoji
It is not uncommon to see emojis in search results, for example:

Meta tags with emoji

Of course, such results attract users' attention much more. Thanks to emoji in the description and title meta tags, the site becomes more attractive, in addition, the essence of the description and title is better revealed, and the CTR increases. There is nothing complicated in adding a smiley: you need to copy it from the getemoji.com website and paste it into the meta tag.

However, if we talk about displaying emoji, then Google can see them, but Yandex is just starting to use them in the Yandex Direct contextual advertising system. Therefore, Yandex will not have them. The only thing you can do is add them as a favicon.

The OS version plays a big role in the quality of displaying smileys: for example, if they look clear on IOS or Android, then in Windows up to version 7 they are not so attractive. However, you shouldn't attach much importance to this, since few people use old operating systems.
