While conducting scientific and teaching activities, scientists have the opportunity to receive supplements to their basic salary. What is the size of such supplements and what can they be awarded for?

Salary is one of the main and most important components of labor relations between an employee and an employer. Further cooperation depends on its fluctuation in one direction or another. For conducting scientific and teaching activities, the legislative level of Ukraine sets out requirements for receiving allowances and surcharges, their size, etc. Today we will analyze the relevant legislative acts and tell you about 5 types of allowances for scientific workers and scientists.


Unified tariff grid for 2024
The Unified Tariff Grid (UTS) is a system of tariff coefficients that determine official salaries for most public sector employees, including education and science. The salary amount depends on the employee's brazil phone numbers qualifications, as well as the complexity of the work they perform.

Types of allowances for researchers and scientists

1. Additional payments for having scientific degrees and academic titles.
The legislation of Ukraine defines additional payments for having scientific degrees and academic titles:

for honorary, academic, sports titles, scientific degrees – in the amount of 15-30% of the official salary ( Law of Ukraine “On Complete General Secondary Education” );
a teaching staff member who has passed certification – a monthly supplement in the amount of 20% of the official salary (wage rate), proportional to the volume of the teaching workload during the validity period of the certificate ( Law of Ukraine "On Education" ).

Candidate of Sciences The maximum amount is 15% of the official salary.

Additional payments for an academic title or academic degree are provided to employees if their professional activity corresponds to the profile of the title or degree received. In the case of several academic titles or academic degrees, the additional payment is established for one (highest) academic title or academic degree.


The correspondence of the academic title and degree to the profile of the employee’s activities in the position held is determined by the head of the educational institution, institution or scientific institution ( Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 557 ).
