Merging Google My Business listings can benefit ranking

Post by rumana777 »

In a recent case study, the Canadian agency Sterling Sky wanted to determine to what extent the ranking changes when two identical entries on Google My Business are merged. In the case study mentioned, one of the entries marked the company as closed, with the same contact options as the actual entry. This provided different information to users and search engines. After the entries were merged, ranking tools were used to determine that the rankings had steadily increased. This improvement was not only observed in the case study mentioned, but also with other customers.

Page experience is evaluated via AMP version of the website
In the last Webmaster Hangout with John Müller, the newly rcs data saudi arabia announced Page Experience criterion was discussed, which will be relevant for website operators from 2021. According to John Müller, the page that appears in the search results would be evaluated primarily. If an AMP version is available, it will be assessed according to the new criteria and in such a case the original mobile version will not be taken into account.

One year until the rankings of a new site are stable
Also in the last Webmaster Hangout, John Müller mentioned that it can take up to a year for the ranking of a new website to stabilize. During this time, Google collects all possible information about the relevance and other criteria of the website. In particular, whether the website is more relevant to certain search queries than other existing websites only becomes clear after a longer period of observation.
