Bye, bye, Internet Explorer: Google Chrome is the world's most popular browser

The Google Group introduced the first final version of its browser Google Chrome in 2008.

Last week, Chrome achieved what no other browser has ever done before: it knocked Internet Explorer off the top spot in the list of the world's most popular browsers. Internet Explorer was the undisputed number 1 for over 15 years, according to statistics from the company StatCounter .

From May 14 to 20, only 31.9 percent of users used Internet Explorer, compared to 44 percent in the previous year. Chrome increased its user share from 19.4 percent in 2011 to 32.8 percent in 2012 - and is thus 0.9 percent ahead of Internet Explorer .

Worldwide use of Firefox shrank slightly from 29.2 to 25.5 percent. Apple's Safari bangladesh phone data browser was also used more compared to the previous year: the number of users rose from 4.9 to 8.3 percent.

There are clear regional differences in the use of Google Chrome. The browser is used most in Asia and South America. In Europe, Chrome accounts for almost 30 percent.

In Germany, Firefox is still the most popular browser, followed by Internet Explorer. However, Google Chrome is also slowly gaining ground here.
